The Dogra Art Foundation is pleased to announce that the Banjatra Photo Album of Goswami Balkrishnalalji Maharaj of Kankroli, a gift from Vikram and Nalini Dogra, is now listed in the Art Institute of Chicago’s online collection.
Dated by the museum to the late 19th–early 20th century, the album documents the sacred 84 Kos Yatra through Braj, a region deeply associated with Lord Krishna. Its photographs preserve a valuable visual record of the pilgrimage’s sacred places and cultural traditions.
“For us, collecting has always carried a responsibility to preserve and share,” said Vikram and Nalini Dogra. “It brings us great joy to know that this album will be cared for in a public collection, where future generations can study it, appreciate its beauty, and discover the traditions it preserves.”
The gift reflects the Dogra Art Foundation’s mission of “Connecting People through Art” and its commitment to sharing India’s artistic and cultural heritage with a wider audience.
