Dogra Art Foundation Hosts Successful Second Lecture in the Series “Bridging Continents: Exploring South Asian Art”

On March 8th, 2025, the Dogra Art Foundation presented the second installment of its esteemed lecture series, “Bridging Continents: Exploring South Asian Art,” featuring a captivating presentation by Dr. Darielle Mason, the Stella Kramrisch Curator of Indian and Himalayan Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Held at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY, the event drew an enthusiastic audience of approximately three hundred attendees.

Dr. Mason’s lecture, titled “Sleuthing Provenance: The Strange History of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s South Indian Temple Collection,” unfolded like a spy thriller, engrossing the audience with tales of art, intrigue, and discovery. The detailed exploration into the provenance of these artifacts highlighted the meticulous process of art historical detective work, enriching the audience’s appreciation for South Asian art and heritage.
